Every Natural Deodorant You Tried Was Solving the Wrong Problem.
It wasn't you. It was the formula.
Most natural deodorants fail for one of four reasons — and if you've been let down, you'll recognise at least one of them:
- It didn't work. By mid-morning you could tell it wasn't doing anything.
- It irritated your skin. Redness, stinging, or — after a few weeks — darkening under the arms.
- It smelled strange. That distinctive "natural deodorant" smell that isn't quite right.
- The texture was wrong. Chalky, greasy, heavy — something that sat on your skin rather than working with it.
All four of these problems trace back to the same root cause: baking soda. It's in the majority of natural deodorants. It causes the irritation. And it doesn't actually neutralise odour — it just raises the skin's pH to create an environment that's temporarily less hospitable to bacteria.
Olphoria doesn't contain baking soda. Here's what we use instead.
Neutralising odour is not the same as masking it. And it's not the same as blocking sweat.
Conventional deodorants block sweat using aluminium compounds. Most natural alternatives try to create an environment where odour-causing bacteria can't thrive — usually via baking soda, which disrupts the skin's pH and causes irritation in the process.
Olphoria uses Zinc Ricinoleate — an active that neutralises odour molecules directly, without blocking pores or disrupting your skin's pH. Your body functions normally. The odour simply doesn't form.
We also use Lactobacillus Ferment to support your skin's natural pH balance, and Tapioca Starch combined with Arrowroot Powder for a lightweight, non-greasy texture that absorbs without heaviness.
- No baking soda — no irritation, no darkening, no pH disruption.
- No aluminium — no pore-blocking of any kind.
- No synthetic preservatives — a genuinely cleaner formula.
- Clean fragrance — formulated without parabens, sulphates or phthalates.
- Safety-assessed by UK based Cosmetics Safety Assesors — independently tested and documented.

The fragrance ingredients are real. So is where they come from.
Real agarwood from Southeast Asian forests. Bergamot from Calabria. Haitian vetiver — the same material used by fragrance houses like Hermès and Chanel. Bulgarian rose. Sicilian mandarin. These aren't generic fragrance compounds or synthetic approximations. They're traceable, sourced ingredients — which is why the scents smell the way they do, and why they develop differently on different skin.
